1. Scope
These terms apply to anyone who requests or uses an API key to make requests to the public Gamechecker API (endpoints under /api/v1). By requesting a key you agree to these terms.
2. Nature of the API
The API is a free, self-service information service — the same catalog and price history data as on the website, in JSON form. There is no paid tier, SLA, or guarantee of uninterrupted availability; we provide the API 'as is', on a best-effort basis.
3. API key
Your API key is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for keeping it secret and for all traffic made with it. We may revoke a key at any time and without prior notice, for example in case of abuse, a violation of these terms, or a shop complaint about redistribution of their data.
4. Permitted use
You may use the API for your own tools, projects, or research. It is not permitted to:
- repackage or resell the data as a competing price-comparison service or dataset without your own added value;
- bypass or intentionally exceed rate limits (e.g. using multiple keys to evade limits);
- use the data in a way that implies {site_name} is the source of a purchase or a price guarantee;
- use the API in a way that harms the service, us, or the scraped webshops.
5. Rate limits and quota
A default daily quota and burst limit apply per key (see API for developers for current values and the X-RateLimit headers on every response). We may adjust limits as the API grows.
6. Data accuracy
All prices and availability via the API are an indication as of the last scrape, not a guarantee — see also our Disclaimer. Always verify with the webshop itself before relying on this data in your own application.
7. Changes to the API
We may extend v1 with new fields without notice. Breaking changes (removed fields/endpoints) will be announced in advance where reasonable. We may suspend or discontinue the public API temporarily or permanently.
8. Liability
See also our Terms of service and Disclaimer. We are not liable for damage arising from the use of API data in your own application, including downtime, incorrect, or outdated data.
9. Privacy
For a key we only store your email address and the optional label/purpose you provide, used to manage the key and prevent abuse. See our Privacy policy for more details.
10. Termination
We may terminate or pause the public API and/or individual keys at any time, with or without notice.
11. Applicable law
Dutch law applies to these terms.
